Site consultation
A site visit is the best starting point. At this stage your requirements are discussed and your garden assessed for potential. Usually design ideas, sketches and horticultural advice are offered at the first visit, which may be all you need to develop your garden. This can be followed with a site report, plant lists and so on, as required.
Landscape layout designs
To provide more detailed information a scaled drawing is usually necessary. This will require a return visit to survey your site, make notes and take photographs. A hand-drawn and coloured layout design can then be prepared, which will show the shapes, materials and structures of the garden. This is accompanied by a dossier of notes advising you of a sensible programme of work, information on materials shown in the plan and addresses of relevant suppliers and other professionals.
Planting plans
Further plans can be prepared to show the planting information. Plants are selected to give year round interest, to harmonise with each other and to suit the style of your house and garden layout and also to be suitable for your soil type and sunny or shady positions. Notes to accompany the planting plan include descriptions of plants, addresses of nurseries and suppliers and a brief maintenance guide.
Constructional drawings
If you or your contractor require more detailed information on the design of specific architectural features we can provide working drawings and elevations.
Finding a contractor
We can introduce you to reputable landscape contractors in your area that belong to either BALI (British Association of Landscape Industries) or APL (Association of Professional Landscapers). We can send them plans and discuss the project with them and help you analyse their quotations.
Monitoring the construction
We can visit the site on a regular basis to ensure that work is being carried out professionally and in accordance with the design.
